IQOS BONDS Cosmic Black Device

IQOS BONDS Cosmic Black Device is a compact, all-in-one heated tobacco device designed for adults who use compatible nicotine or tobacco products. Unlike IQOS ILUMA devices, which are designed for TEREA sticks, BONDS by IQOS is built around ROUNDHEAT technology and uses specially designed ROUNDHEAT sticks. In the UAE, IQOS currently presents BONDS as a pocket-sized, all-in-one heated tobacco device and specifically lists BLENDS sticks for the system.

The Cosmic Black version gives the BONDS device a dark, understated appearance while retaining the same core hardware as the other BONDS color options. The device is designed as a single-piece unit, meaning there is no separate pocket charger and holder that need to be carried together.

BONDS heats the compatible stick from the outside rather than using a conventional blade inserted into the tobacco stick. IQOS describes the ROUNDHEAT system as an external heating technology, while its product information emphasizes the compact, all-in-one format.

IQOS BONDS Cosmic Black Specifications

Published specifications vary slightly between current regional sources, particularly regarding full-charge time and the number of sessions available from one charge. The exact regional packaging and user guide should therefore be treated as the final reference.

What Is the IQOS BONDS Cosmic Black Device?

BONDS by IQOS is a heated tobacco system, not a conventional disposable vape or refillable e-liquid pod device. It is designed to heat specially made sticks and generate an aerosol containing nicotine instead of burning the tobacco in the traditional way.

The key difference is the ROUNDHEAT heating system. Rather than inserting a blade into the stick, the device heats the stick from the outside. IQOS describes BONDS as a compact device that heats the tobacco without conventional cigarette smoke and ash.

The Cosmic Black version is simply the black colorway of this BONDS platform. Its hardware is designed around the same one-piece form factor and ROUNDHEAT system used by the other colors.

ROUNDHEAT Technology Explained

External Heating System

The main technological feature of BONDS is ROUNDHEAT. According to IQOS, the system heats the tobacco stick from the outside rather than piercing the stick with a heating blade.

This differs from older IQOS generations that used blade-based heating and also differs from IQOS ILUMA, which uses the SMARTCORE induction system with compatible TEREA sticks.

No Conventional Blade

BONDS does not require a conventional blade to enter the stick. This is an important part of the device design and also explains why BONDS uses its own specially designed stick format.

Users should not try to insert TEREA, HEETS, conventional cigarettes, or unrelated tobacco sticks into the device. IQOS states that BONDS is designed for its official compatible stick system.

Cosmic Black Design

Compact One-Piece Construction

The BONDS Cosmic Black has a compact, single-body design rather than the traditional holder-plus-pocket-charger arrangement found on many IQOS devices.

Current regional specifications put the device at approximately 108.4 mm in height, 29.5 mm in width, and 21.4 mm in depth, with a weight of about 88 grams.

This makes the device relatively compact for a heated tobacco system and suitable for carrying in a pocket or small bag.

Minimalist Black Finish

Cosmic Black is the darkest of the standard BONDS color choices. IQOS currently identifies BONDS in three colors in some markets: Cosmic Black, Ocean Blue, and Ruby Red.

The black finish gives the device a simple appearance without changing its operating specifications.

Compatible Sticks for BONDS

BLENDS for BONDS

This is one of the most important details when purchasing the BONDS Cosmic Black. The device is designed for ROUNDHEAT sticks, and the official UAE IQOS store currently specifically presents BLENDS tobacco sticks exclusively made for BONDS by IQOS.

In Indonesia, IQOS also identifies BLENDS A as designed for use with BONDS. Current examples include BLENDS A Watermelon Mix, Passionfruit Mix, Tropical Edition, Gold Edition, Rich Edition, Warm Edition, Purple Edition, Summer Edition, and Blossom Edition.

BONDS Is Not an ILUMA Device

BONDS should not be confused with an IQOS ILUMA device. ILUMA is designed for TEREA sticks, while BONDS uses its own ROUNDHEAT-compatible format.

That means TEREA sticks should not be used in BONDS, and BONDS-compatible sticks should not automatically be assumed to work with ILUMA. IQOS explicitly distinguishes the two systems.

Session Performance

Up to Three Consecutive Uses

Current BONDS specifications indicate support for up to three consecutive sessions before the device needs a short break.

This is useful for users who prefer not to wait between every session.

Around Five Minutes per Session

BONDS is designed for a session of up to approximately five minutes. The exact session experience can depend on the compatible stick and operating conditions. IQOS Poland’s current product information also identifies a session duration of up to five minutes.

Approximately 30-Second Preheating

Current product specifications list approximately 30 seconds of heating or preheating before the device is ready.

The device uses its indicator lights to communicate operating status.

Battery and USB-C Charging

Built-In Rechargeable Battery

BONDS uses an integrated rechargeable battery. Since it is an all-in-one device, there is no separate pocket charger required for normal operation. The device itself is connected to a charging source.

USB Type-C Charging

Current BONDS specifications identify USB-C as the charging connection.

Some regional product information states a full charge takes approximately 120 minutes, while another current product listing specifies approximately 180 minutes. Charging time can depend on the regional version, adapter, cable, and battery condition.

For safety, IQOS recommends using compatible charging accessories and appropriate power adapters rather than improvised charging equipment.

How to Use IQOS BONDS Cosmic Black

Step 1: Charge the Device

Before first use, charge the BONDS device using the supplied USB-C cable and an appropriate compatible power source. IQOS’s BONDS getting-started instructions recommend fully charging the device before use.

Step 2: Prepare a Compatible ROUNDHEAT Stick

Use only the stick format specified for BONDS in your market. In the UAE, IQOS specifically identifies BLENDS sticks for the device.

Step 3: Insert the Stick

Insert the ROUNDHEAT stick into the device according to the supplied user instructions. Do not force it into the chamber.

Step 4: Start Heating

Depending on the BONDS version, pressing and holding the button starts preheating. IQOS’s current BONDS instructions describe pressing and holding the button until the device vibrates to indicate that heating has begun.

Step 5: Wait for the Ready Signal

The device indicates when the heating process is ready. Once the appropriate signal appears, the session can begin.

Step 6: Remove the Used Stick

After the session, remove the used stick carefully. ROUNDHEAT sticks are single-use products and should not be reused.

Does BONDS Need Cleaning?

One notable characteristic of BONDS is its external heating approach. Because there is no conventional blade inserted into the tobacco stick, current product descriptions state that routine blade cleaning is not required.

This does not mean the device should be exposed to liquids or opened. Users should follow the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions and keep the charging area and exterior clean and dry.

Never attempt to disassemble the device or remove its internal battery.

BONDS Cosmic Black vs IQOS ILUMA

Heating Technology

BONDS uses ROUNDHEAT external heating, while IQOS ILUMA uses the SMARTCORE induction system.

Stick Compatibility

BONDS is intended for ROUNDHEAT-compatible products such as BLENDS in markets where those sticks are offered. IQOS ILUMA uses TEREA sticks.

Device Structure

BONDS is an all-in-one, single-piece device. Many ILUMA configurations use a holder and separate pocket charger, although the ILUMA ONE is itself an all-in-one format.

For anyone switching between the systems, compatibility should therefore be checked before purchasing sticks.

Buying Tips for IQOS BONDS Cosmic Black

Check the Stick Format

Do not purchase the device based only on the IQOS name. The most important compatibility detail is the stick format. BONDS and ILUMA use different systems.

Check the Regional Version

Specifications can differ slightly by market, especially charging time, compatible consumables, and package contents. Check the regional IQOS product page and the information printed on the box.

Check the Package Contents

A current official IQOS product listing in Indonesia identifies the Cosmic Black kit as the device product, while regional BONDS listings commonly include a charging cable.

ROUNDHEAT or BLENDS sticks may be sold separately, depending on the market and kit.

Choose a Sealed Device

Check the packaging for signs of damage, tampering, or moisture. Avoid using a device with physical damage or unusual battery behavior.
